Global Arbitrage Opportunities in Biotech and Life Sciences
The coming decade promises a transformation in healthcare and lifesciences.  Factors that influence that ‘tipping point’ are:  the advent of personalized medicine, moving from sickness to wellness, intense pressures on reducing cost of healthcare delivery, improving access to healthcare for underserved patients around the globe.  Globalization will play a critical role in transforming healthcare in developed and developing nations.  Although initially emerging economies will participate in lower value parts of the value chain (e.g., outsourcing of non-core processes), in time these will develop innovation-based biopharmaceutical and healthcare industries that will serve not only growing local markets, but capture global opportunity.  This talk will examine the progress to date in the biotech industry in emerging markets, and will offer a perspective on how to best capture the value of global arbitrage opportunities in the near-term future.
